How to make a night time lapse |
Whats up guys, welcome back to my channel. Today I am going to be showing you how to make the best night time lapses with a Panasonic Lumix G7. before this video starts, make sure you leave a like and subscribe. The Panasonic g7 is mainly a video camera, but is a amazing camera at taking stills and time lapses. i don't find the small censer to be an issue when it comes to low light. The first step is putting your camera into Manual mode. This let's you change all your settings to do long exposures. There are 2 dials on the camera for changing settings. The front one is for changing your shutter speed and the one on the back is for aperture. After you put your camera into Manual mode, which is the little m on the dial, you want to change the aperture to f3.5 . This is the lowest the g7 will go. Make sure your camera is all the way zoomed out because when it is zoomed in, the lowest f stop is 5.6. You want to have a shutter speed of 20 seconds to 40 seconds. This is so there are no star trails. You can also use the 500 rule. I like the white balance at around 3000k, i find this makes the sky look like it is in real life. I like the iso 800 or less. This means there will be less noise, but you can still see the stars. Make sure you have long shutter noise reduction on. I know it is annoying because it takes double the time to take a picture, but it is 100 % worth it. Use the left dial and put the camera into time lapse mode. Next you need to do the focus. Put the camera into Manual focus, and use the focus ring to move the focus all the way to the mountain icon displayed on the camera. Then you need to find a dark sky. I use dark sky finder to find where the best dark sky's are. This is important to see the milky way. Now all you have to do is leave your camera out over night and leave it taking a time lapse.
